What is Your Fantasy….Tattoo We Mean!

Unlike Dom, these are some of my favorite  tattoos . While my work is very scientific, I am also quite the dreamer. Fantasy tattoos are inspired by magic and folklore.  In some cases they represent pop culture i.e. tinkerbell.  However, the very word fantasy delves into the area of our dreams, desires and in many ways the attributes of hope, belief, wishes, and magical powers. Again, these are the tattoos we are often requested to help find. As our requests grow, so will this list ~ albeit not magically.

Aries tattoo    aries tattoo   Aries is a fire element sign, and is ruled by the planet Mars. The Aries personality is strong and impulsive. Aries make good leaders, though they tend to be impatient and may use time unwisely or ignore good advice.
Dragons tattoos    dragons tattoos

In legends dragons are free, powerful, clever, and intelligent.  They are cloaked in magic and mystery.  Depicted in Japanese, Chinese, European cultures they invoke power and mystique and uniqueness.

Fairies tattoo    fairies tattoos

Fairy tattoos can be derived from pop culture such as Tinkerbell.  However, they are shrouded in mystery, they are the wee ones who make wishes and desires come true.  There are so many  radical  designs for fairies that you can and make them yours by adding characteristics from your own personality.  Think spider web wings, or perhaps sitting on balancing stones.

Gothic tattoos    gothic tattoos

Gothic tattoos are as diverse as those who are part of the Goth lifestyle.  If I was to generalize my friends in the Goth scene, they are artistic and highly intelligent people who have eclectic and original taste.  Their tattoos reflect their individualistic interests, so they can be anything from fantasy related, to the occult, medieval and/or symbols from the ancient religions such as Wicca.

Mermaid tattoos    mermaid tattoos

A fashionable nautical myth, the Mermaid/man is a well-known being thought to be part fish and part human.  Mermaids   also have their place in pop culture, again by our friends at Disney (the little mermaid).   Never the less, the mermaid/merman is seen as powerfully sexual, having the ability to lure sailors.

Scorpion tattoos    scorpion tattoos

The scorpion is a very historical figure.  From Africa to Asia stories and myths of the scorpion will be found.  Generally the tattoo is a talisman to ward off evil spirits as the scorpion is both revered and feared.

Skull tattoo designs    skull tattoo designs

Skulls are definitely symbolic to the owner, often seen as a ‘gothic’ tattoo this is not necessarily the case.  While the most common meaning is mortality and death is can also  represent  rebirth, some use the icon as protection, it may mean strength, power, the ability to overcome all obstacles.  Truly this is one tattoo that would have a very specific meaning to its owner.

Tattoos zodiac    zodiac sign tattoos

An ever popular tattoo, zodiacs are very much what they seem – the persons birth symbol.  However there is a ton of variety in what type of zodiac tattoo you design do you want it’s representation or the constellation?  Also to be considered is what astrological path you follow, i.e. North American, Chinese, Hindu, etc.  Some people chose not to get their own zodiac sign tattooed, but that of their loved one – or both intertwined.  The possibilities are endless.

Tinkerbell tattoos    tinkerbell tattoos

Tinkerbell is definitely pop culture, however like my description of fairies above, there is still something magical about her – a little girls dream.  Tinkerbell has none of the historical meaning of other fairies, but she is cute, innocent and well I’m sure Peter Pan would agree – magical.
